Hydraulic pumps are the "heart" of hydraulic systems, powering excavators, loaders, and industrial presses. They convert mechanical energy (from engines or motors) into hydraulic energy via energy conversion and fluid displacement, driving machinery movement with pressurized fluid.
Their work has three key stages. In the suction phase, internal parts (gears, pistons, or vanes) create a low-pressure vacuum in the inlet chamber, pulling fluid from the reservoir through a one-way valve.
Next, the compression phase: rotating or reciprocating parts reduce the fluid chamber’s volume, sharply increasing fluid pressure—adjusted for tasks, from light work (low pressure) to heavy operations like excavator arm lifting (high pressure).
In the discharge phase, pressurized fluid exits through an anti-backflow outlet valve into the system. It acts on actuators (cylinders/motors) to generate motion, powering functions like digging or lifting.
Common pump types (gear, piston, vane) follow this cycle but differ in design: gear pumps use meshing gears, piston pumps sliding pistons, and vane pumps rotating vanes. All rely on tight seals and precise alignment to avoid leakage, ensuring efficient energy transfer for heavy machinery.
